Media SHow Case Speech/ Synopsis

Hello, we are Mac 3. We decided to make our two minuet film opening a psychological thriller. This is because we found out that out age group and above preferred the thriller genre as a whole compared to others. Our narrative is based on two girls who cyber bullied their classmate whose father then aims to get his revenge. As a result on girl is killed, the other is left alive with nothing but a fragmented and broken memory of the incident. If this were a full feature length film, the main character would go on to try and regain her lost memory and find her friends killer. We have been inspired by films such as 'Donnie Darko', 'Shutter Island' and 'We Need To Talk About Kevin'.

Age certificate

Due to the criteria of the Bffc, we have decided to give our film an age certificate of 15 mainly because it has the possibility for drug use, strong language and threat to the audience and it involves violence and imitable behaviour such as cyber bullying.

We wanted to aim out two minuet opening at young adults and teenagers so the certificate  goes well with the audience we want to target.

Bffc criteria

15 – Suitable only for 15 years

and over

No one younger than 15 may see a

15 film in a cinema. No one younger

than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated

video work.

Discrimination

The work as a whole must not endorse

discriminatory language or behaviour, although

there may be racist, homophobic or other

discriminatory themes and language.

Drugs

Drug taking may be shown but the work as a whole

must not promote or encourage drug misuse

(for example, through instructional detail). The

misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous

substances (for example, aerosols or solvents) is

unlikely to be acceptable.

Imitable behaviour

Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide

and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which

could be copied. Whether the depiction of easily

accessible weapons is acceptable will depend on

factors such as realism, context and setting.

Language

There may be strong language. Very strong language

may be permitted, depending on the manner in

which it is used, who is using the language, its

frequency within the work as a whole and any special

contextual justification.

Nudity

There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or

educational context. There may be nudity in a sexual

context but usually without strong detail.

Sex

Sexual activity may be portrayed, but usually without

strong detail. There may be strong verbal references

to sexual behaviour, but the strongest references are

unlikely to be acceptable unless justified by context.

Works whose primary purpose is sexual arousal or

stimulation are unlikely to be acceptable.

Threat

There may be strong threat and horror. A sustained

focus on sadistic or sexual threat is unlikely to

be acceptable.

Violence

Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the

infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images

are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic violence

is also unlikely to be acceptable.

There may be detailed verbal references to sexual

violence but the depiction of sexual violence must be

discreet and justified by context.

Poster

This is the screen shot from out two minuet opening  that we are going to use for the poster for our media show case that will be held on the 16th March. We decided to use this because it is part of the catalyst that causes our main character to lose her memory and it doesn't give to much away about our film.

Draft 2

This is the second draft of our two minuet opening. We still need to work on the sound and make sure that the Foley matches up with the footage. However, we think it works much better than what we have done before.

The Ambulance footage

In our first draft of our two minuet opening, we wanted to use this footage we filmed for part of the montage sequence but we just couldn't get it to work and made the sequence anti-climatic. However, in our new version of the film opening it does work due to the rearrangement of the shots and makes it look much better than it did before.
